Class of 2023

Hello 9th Grade Students,

cc: your parents/guardians

As most of you know, we brought you into the Workday Student Center last week to introduce Naviance Student, our College and Career Planning Software.  This year we focused on learning about your interests and your personality.  We had you complete a Do What You Are interest inventory (which is based on the nationally recognized Myers-Briggs Assessment). Naviance Student is a comprehensive website that you can use to help in making decisions about courses, colleges, and careers. Naviance Student is linked with College Planner, a service that we use in our office to track and analyze data about college and career plans, so it provides up-to-date information that is specific to our school. Naviance Student will allow you to:

  1. Get involved in the planning and advising process
  2. Build a resume, complete on-line surveys, and manage timelines and deadlines for making decisions about colleges and careers
  3. Research colleges
  4. Compare GPA, standardized test scores, and other statistics to actual historical data from our school for students who have applied and been admitted in the past
  5. Sign up for college visits & Find out which colleges are visiting our school and sign up to attend those sessions (11th and 12th grade only)

Naviance Student also lets us share information with you about up-coming meetings and events, local scholarship opportunities, and other Web resources for college and career information.

We hope you found this to be pretty interesting (and useful) and hope you continue to utilize Naviance at home to further your career and college exploration. (You can take more assessments/surveys from home, if you would like.)  In addition to the assigned tasks on the worksheet, we also provided you additional features within Naviance, to explore/complete at home.  If you would like to further discuss the results of your assessment, feel free to stop by and speak with your counselor.

In addition to this, we also provide you with a copy of your high school transcript. (If you lost it, you can find it on the Infinite Campus Portal).  We explained our graduation requirements, in addition to the minimum college admission requirements, and helped you begin your four-year high school course planning, based on your goals for after high school).

Be sure to share this information with your parents/guardians so they are familiar with the Naviance features as well.

Parents: Stay tuned for login information (for first time users) and information about an upcoming evening Naviance Parent Presentation.  This will be sent out shortly.  If you have already created an account with Naviance, Naviance is in the process of prompting all parents to change their passwords, due to increased security measures.  You will be prompted to do this, upon entering your existing username (email) and password.  This is something that you have to do at home, as we are no longer able to reset your passwords.  If you forgot your password, simply click on the 'forgot password' in the Naviance Login Portal.

Have a great week!
