Women's Lacrosse: For anyone interest in trying out for women's lacrosse, we will be starting open fields next week on Tuesday, September 12th.  Open fields will be every Tuesday 3:30-5pm out on the grass. Can't wait to see you out on the field!  Check out the website for updates:


Need help with Spanish?  PTSA is sponsoring free tutoring for all levels of Spanish to help you hablar español.  Come to Room 408 (Sra. Estevez) after school on Mondays, 3:15 - 4:15pm.  ¡Hasta Luego!

The math department will be offering the after school math lab sponsored by PTSA starting the week of 9/11.   Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:20pm-4:20pm in room 523.


The English Department offers tutoring afterschool at 3:15.

Let’s KICK OFF homecoming week with a kickball tournament September 25th – 29th!  Get your team together and sign up through our sign up genius that will go live on September 19th.  The captains meeting will be on Thursday, September 21st at lunch in the leadership room.


DADS ON CAMPUS:  All Dads are invited to MV Library at 7pm on Wednesday, September 20th.  The topic is “How to raise an adult" as presented by Bob Dillow. 




DO YOU GET ALL THE NEWS FROM MV?    At any time the daily bulletin and other news items can be accessed on the MV homepage.   Please contact Jodi McFarland if you have any problems receiving the news.  

Do you receive daily bulletins?  School Loop sends out daily grade updates and bulletins.  To make this choice sign in to school loop and select it under your settings tab in the upper right corner.  When you do receive the daily news you still need to click on the bulletin link to read it. 

Do you receive weekly bulletins?  On Monday’s the bulletin is also sent out by the messenger program.  Some parents prefer to receive it only weekly so that program works better for them.  This choice is sometimes not received if you have at one time blocked emails from MV.  It is corrected by contacting the district communication office. 

Advertise in the MVHS Student Directory:  Tell the Monte Vista parent community about your business by advertising in the Student Directory.  Purchase your space through the PTSA Webstore (https://montevista, Full page to business card sizes are available.  Deadline for artwork and payment: September 29, 2017.  Questions: Suzanne Sherry (



Academy Night:  The US service academies offer a unique and esteemed opportunity for high school grads. Accepted students receive a 4-year university education and a stipend in exchange for a minimum 5-year military service commitment.  If you are interested in learning more please join Congressional staff and service academy reps for Academy Night.  Thursday, 9/14 6pm – 8pm in Richmond City Council Chambers, Thursday, 9/28 6-8pm at DVC in the Diablo room.  RSVP 925/933-2660.

Support the student-run Journalism class that publishes 7 monthly newspapers each school year.  There are many ways you and you businesses can support the Journalism class.   All sponsors, subscribers and patrons receive a copy of the monthly paper for the school year.  Contact us :

Want to have your pictures published in the Yearbook this year?  We’re using an awesome tool called HJeShare. This online program allows anyone to upload pictures directly into our photo database for consideration.  This will help us cover more aspects of student and campus life. You can download the (free!) app to your phone, or access it online at school code is MVmustangs. These photos will only be viewed by the Yearbook advisor and editors,  with approved photos passed on to the Yearbook Staff for publication!


COLLEGE FINANCIAL AID:  Monday, September 18th at 7:00pm in the TheatreMV College and Career Coordinator Cathy Haberl hosts Cora Manuel, Assistant Director of Financial aid at Saint Mary’s College of California and Associate Financial Aid Analyst for the California Student Aid Commission, and now for Pacific School of Religion.  She will be focusing on completing the FAFSA and CSS Profile documents.  She will also be available to answer any questions you might have.  You do not need to sign up to attend.


COLLEGE NIGHT at MV:  Wednesday, October 25th from 6:30pm-8:30pm at MV.  This 30th Annual College Night is brought to you through the combined efforts of the San Ramon Valley Unified School District and the Academic Boosters from California, Dougherty Valley, Monte Vista and San Ramon Valley High Schools.  No participant RSVP is required.


COLLEGE FAIR IN ANTIOCH:   18th Annual Historically Black Colleges & Universities Recruitment Fair is at Deer Valley High School on Tuesday, September 12, 2017.    Students should register by 9/7:

OKTOBERFEST!  Join other Mustang sports fans for the second annual Oktoberfest celebration on Saturday, September 30 at the Oak Hill Park Community Center, hosted by Monte Vista Athletic Boosters.  This is an adults only event with great food and beverages, plus a commemorative pint glass.  All proceeds support Monte Vista Athletics.  See for more event info and purchase tickets in the MVHS web store. 



Are you looking for a way to support your MV Student?  Here is a list of some suggestions for parents to be engaged on the MV Campus

Dads on Campus:
Speaker series with discussion as more than 50 Dads meet as scheduled.  Series topics are selected to support Dads and their teenage students.  Coordinator is Ryan Meineke  Next meeting is September 20 at 7pm in Library. 

Parent Teacher Student Association 
Parents meet routinely to support MV campus, staff and activities.  Volunteers coordinate programs such as Parent Education and After School Tutoring.  President is Janet Nunan.  Next meeting:  September 8 at 10:30 in Conference Room 

School Site Council
Elected participation by Parents, Teachers, Student and Staff help direct funding to MV programs.  The current board positions are filled.  Coordinator is Kristine Sexton.  Next meeting is September 21 at 3:30 in WSC 118.  

Coffee with Kevin
Monthly coffee scheduled 8:30am in 118 including presentations by students, faculty departments and time for Q&A with Administration. No RSVP needed.  The next Coffee is September 20th at 8:30am in WSC 118.  

Academic Boosters
Fundraising for classroom teachers keeps our class sizes lower and offers more choices to our students.  This group meets monthly to direct funds and plan fundraisers.  The next meeting is September 13th at 10am in WSC 118.  

Athletic Boosters  
Fundraising for all Mustang Sports Teams to pay for additional services, support for our teams.  

12th Man
Fundraising for Mustang Football. 

Students of Excellence  12/17
Teachers each nominate a student for the intangible efforts. The nominated student is hard-working, has a positive attitude, and adds a special element to the classroom.   

DAILY BULLETIN:  Club and sports limited to that day.  Please submit before noon the day before event/meeting.  Bulletin is published before 2pm.

WEEKLY BULLETIN:  A more comprehensive list of events on campus and looking forward into the coming weeks.  Please submit before noon Monday.  Published by 2pm. 

BULLETIN ANNOUNCEMENTS:  Read MWTHF at beginning of 3rd period as selected by leadership.   Please submit article before noon the day before.
