SRVUSD AIR QUALITY ALERT:  Our thoughts are with the victims of the fires, the firefighters and emergency personnel who are working so hard to support our state.  Due to air quality concerns we will limit outdoor activities for students and staff.   We continue to monitor the air quality issues and will keep you informed if anything changes. COFFEE with Kevin Wednesday 8:30am in Rm 118.  Join Principal Ahern and Department Chairs along with Counseling and Student representatives for a visit.  The discussion is always timely and a wonderful opportunity for the community.   


MV Website Changes:  All schools in the district are converting websites to a new template.  Monte Vista will be converting by the end of November.  Search bars, documents, pages will be changing to meet the new design.  Thanks in advance for your patience.

DANCE SHOW:  MV Dance is proud to present "The Greatest Show" Tuesday, 11/13- Thursday, 11/15. Tickets for Wednesday’s show will be sold at the door.  Please keep in mind: 

  • Reserved seats for center section are $15.
  • General Admission seats on the side are $10.
  • Online ticket sales are closed but tickets are available at the door.   


Every year at this time we take a holiday luncheon together and include our wonderful retirees.  The Monte Vista social committee provides a catered lunch of roast turkey with stuffing, mashed potatoes with gravy, green bean and cranberry sauce. YUM.  Staff add to it with dessert, bread rolls, appetizer or favorite side dish.  PTSA offers a few raffle gift baskets and a good time is had by all.  If you know a retiree from MVHS please let them know we would love to see them. 


DINE OUT FUNDRAISER 11/19 AT Kick ‘n Mule.  On 11/19 from 4-8pm come join Kick N Mule in supporting the MV Women’s Basketball Team.  Just tell the server you’re supporting MVHS to make sure 20% of the proceeds are donated to the team.  340 Hartz Avenue, Danville. 


Mini College Fair open to all grade levels There will be a mini college fair held during lunch on Wednesday, November 28th  in the Library.  All grade levels are invited to attend.  Students do not need to sign up to attend. 


PSAT Follow up    All sophomore and junior students that took the Official PSAT on Wednesday, October 10, 2018 here at Monte Vista will have their results posted through the CollegeBoard website beginning on DECEMBER 12, 2018.  We will be handing out a paper copy of your results along with your original test booklet after the holiday break



CHESS CLUB MEETING TODAY  **Tuesday, November 13th** in Room 424. We have had a few meetings already this semester but will gladly accept any new members who have not signed up. While not confirmed it is likely that we will attend at least one local amateur tournament this year. However, if you are an inexperienced player or just want to join the club for fun do not hesitate to join as tournaments are optional and the majority of the time we spend during chess club is playing for leisure. As a reward for frequent members, club members will receive one Hi-Chu for every game one in a chess club. I hope to see you all at our next meeting!


SEWA:  Donate School Supplies to aid those in Oakland, through the non-profit, Oakland Schools. You can donate notebooks, pencils, pens and anything of the sort to Ms. Beamish's room 309. The drive ends this Friday, November 16th


Interact Warm Coat Drive  Please donate gently used or new clothes for the winter season to be given to local Bay Area homeless shelters. Drop off collection bins are located in front of the office and Mrs. Kerr's room (524). Make sure you indicate which items are yours and sign your name on the sign-up sheets provided at the bins. The drive will end December 12th. Thank you for placing service above self!

PARENT ED January 16th, 7-8:30pm, Save the date for a Parent Education night exploring the topic of Stress and Anxiety on our students. A Panel of three professionals will walk us through what our students experience, while helping us as parents find the signs of, and aid in alleviating, stress and anxiety. This year's mission of  the PTSA is to advocate for every child through parent education on this topic.
